My Psychoanalytic Views of Two Short Stories - 1454 Words

Psychoanalysis In order to understand the true meaning of some stories we must understand the what psychoanalysis is. Psychoanalysis was thought up by a man know as Sigmund Freud also know as the Founding Father of Psychoanalysis. Being a major cocaine addict, his theories were often ridiculed and were thought to be perceived as hallucinations as a result of the cocaine use. Freud’s theories however sparked an all new era of Psychology. Although Freud’s theories seemed very radical, when put into life situations they actually make perfect sense. Young Goodman Brown uses the staff as a phallic symbol to symbolize the sexual urges Brown experiences in his fight to remain faithful. In his defeat, the staff exposes the conflict underneath of good and evil as another fight altogether. This battle actually compliments the struggle between God and Satan. It is the fight of purity and holiness of the spirit in conflict against the lustful wants and corruptive thoughts of the mind and body. In Freudian terms, it is the struggle for supremacy between the id and superego. Ultimately, Goodman Brown allows his id to dominate the ego, which also allows the forces of evil to win. Young Goodman Brown uses the text to expose human corruptibility and moral impurity. Without these faults, however, there could be no humanity, and without the guiding light of God, humanity would have nothing for which to hope and pray. Portfolio SWOT Analysis Accademic writings is one of the most widely used method by researchers to read many books online and check the online book writers. In academic writing, though there are challenges and shortfalls, improvement is guranteed day by day to the besy way possible. My accademic wrting skills have been facing up and down in the accademic world. The writing spellings, poort time management and high confusion in the wrting formats have posed a big challenge. Therefore, my SWOT Analysis inaccademic writingss, the challenges faced have become my strength as they harden and makes me to work extra hard to overcome the shorfalls. Strength Quick learner and reader as any new thing or subject present to me can take me few days and am at par with other writers Good listerner and follows instructions to the letter. This helps in doing what is right of me as needed by the instructor Weekness Slow in typing and keying of words which can take me some few minuted before I could finish the contenys needed Poor citation and references from different writing formats Threats Lack of internet connectionss and WI-FI in the area of residence Plagirarism of works from other accademic writers Opportunity Few accademic writers High demands of accademic writings and accademic works in the daily learning of students and researchers Strategy to Improve in Typesettings Purchase of personal computer and do more practice on key and typesttings. The useof personal computer would improve the ability to type as any free time, i would take the computer and do typing practic. This will improve the gramatical and spelling mistakes coming with poor typesttings. Mastering of the computrts important keys and familiarize with them so that the keys acn be pressed without looking directly one on one Portfolio; Reflective Writing After submission of accademic paper work to the Participant Activity 1, the feedback received was full of praise and critisms. The praises are showing the positive steps made while the critics are to correct where the mistakes were done for improvement in the submission of the next paper. The problem was the usage of vocabulary and more technical terms in my writings. In every senstence I wrote there was a big or a vocabulary word or a phrase. Too much wordy makes the accademic paper very challenging and hard to read and understand. Some lectureres and other Participants were ever complaining of the same as I do not use simple words which are easy to understand and in the best way possible. The factor contributing to this is to show my language prowess by expressing feelings with bigger terms thinking that they will make it flourish and more appealing to the reader. Also poor punctuations and sentense construction structure was a problem in my writings. Sometimes, full punctuations w ere missing in my writings and knowing the beggining and the ned of a sentence was hard as fullstops, commas, speech quation marks and explamation marks to show the feelings of the story were missing. From using the bigger and hard terms does not reflect the quality and standards of writings as perceived before. Rather it complicates the work and makes it difficult to be understood by some people. The content in writings are more important than the bigger and hard vocabularies used into them. Sometimesthey change the whole meaning of the story or the study when wrongly used in a context it does not well fit since they are prone to misuse. Hence simlicity and familiarity of the worfs chosen is very important and critical in the accaemic writings. While doing another assignment, the choosing of simple words is the key to a better writing techniques and easy understanding of the whole literature. Too much wordy makes writings boring as they often change the content when the same word with different meaningsa are used. Improvement in gramatical punctuations will help me in the next accademic writings. Well placed punctuation marks distinguish one sentence from another, one point to an other and express the feelings. Therefore, improving in the punctuation would make my work more simple and easier to read and understand since the points are separated. Taking course in English language is very important in improving the punctuation problems. Reading more books of English and doing more research on English punctuation skills would improve my ability in English writing and sentence constructionss. Portfolio; Responding to an Ethical Scenario I as an ICT clerk Assisstant working in the ICT Industry in Sydney have a friend working in the same Industry as ICT Clerk Asistant too. During our cordial relationship, I realized her husband is diagnosed with terminal illness and soon to die just 6 months while they are planning to buy a property in Sydney. Since the huge amount of money soon be invested in the propertyand repaying the loan from one salary source would be difficult, I will not take side and keep quiet for the issue. Rather I would take the step to advice in professional way. Four professional characteristica would help me in this dilema situation. Firtly, information interegrity is very crucial (ACS, July 2012). I willnot tell anybody in the management concerning my friends husband health situation as this will cause working discmfort in the office but only the operation manager. Rather I would take advisoryand encouragement measures as social responsible person (ACS, July 2012) to talk to my friend and ask her any past health records of her husband and any information sheknows of her husband health status. Then advice her of the cosequences of taking such investment risk. Using economic and market situations, I would advice her to tell her husand to re-think buying the property now due to future economic change and buy it later after 6 months elapsed. Honesty(ACS, July 2012) is the next key to help the situation. Being too honest and open to her and tell her the facts rather than telling lies that bound. Honsty concerning her health situation is very important. Keeping silent and quiet will not solve the situation rather telling her the truth that will set me free in long run if they go against my advice given to her. Showing more love, companion and understanding to her(ACS, July 2012). Telling her that her husbands health situation is beyond human nature but lshowing more love, care and understanding of her situation will comfort her and feel appreciated in the industry by other fellow workmates. Keeping loyalty and total assurance (ACS, July 2012) of her job even after the death of her husband is very crucial. Knowing that she will be the bread-winner to her family after the death of her husband in six months time and the challengers of single parent face, she will keep her job and offer her service to the ICT industry competen tly and serving the community interests (ACS, July 2012). Portfolio; Succesful Completion Justification In communication and passing of information the use of interpersonal skills togethr with listening and verbal skills are highly crucial. For example, when talking to a dumb person and sometimes there is mis-communication, the use of interpersonal skills, reading and verbal is very important. Interpretation the meaning of gesturess needs interpersonal skills. Unable to commnicate using gestures due to not knowing the meanings, reading and writing is important and verbal shoutings from the to show the displassure and any feelings he or she has is seen. This helps in communication and understanding. Effective use of reading skills help in understanding the instructions given before doing accademic work. Reading while writing the accademic work also ensures quality work is deliverd. Hencd reading skills are important in following the instructions and quality work delivery. In the research paper and assignments, the reading skills are importantly used. For example, reading the ICT Codes of Conduct and Standards of ACS. Soving a problem in a group vonflict or assigning tasks and duties to a group needs proper communicaion, understanding and respect of everybody within the group structure. Use of good channel of communication and professionalism ethics would help in reducing conflicts and easy duty assignments to individuals. Open minded communicationas and ability to listen to everyones views in the group would ensure mutual respect an this improves teamwork and togethernes. Other skills used are rspect and understanding of all parties involved in the conflict situation or in assigning tasks. Discusion and understanding of the ethicalissues of ICT and its professionalism is very important. The two assessments where the ehics discussed include; first seminar and conference of ICT workers, professionals and other stakeholderss. Secondly, training and undertaking ICT courses that comes with its ethics and practices as units in the curriculum to impart the knowlede to the ICT students. The ICT skills learned fromnthese two sessons are important in ICT profesionalism. The skills were learned through direct observation of how the other professionals were carrying out themselves in and out the session period. The skills also learned throgh direct participation in the ICT conflict resolution team as the team member. There notes were taken and kept to help me in fuure references in case of such conflicts arise. The two things I liked about the unit were the interractions of the ICT professionals, to gthemselves and to the society.the ethics and code of conducts an ICT personel should have while carrying out the ICT duty. Also to the society where one tries tohelp the situation of other fllow work mats and the society in gneral. This improve unity and teamwork Another thing is the group or ICT conflict group resolution. There are many cases of conflicts in the offices where people work together. However, kowing how to solve the problem would improve the productivity and teamwork within the prganization structure. The topic is very nterructive. However, there are still some improvements to be done to make it more appealing to many. Firstly, the availabibility of readily ICT and ACS Codes of Ethics to many people and ICT personels. There are very few ICT personels who can access the materials so that they can read and understand the standard ethicks needed if them. Some conflict cases occur wuthin the ICT industries and how they can be solved hasposed a big challenge to them. Women In The Media Essays - Lansing, Michigan, Geraldine Laybourne

Women In The Media What event began the emergence of women as true players in the media? Was it Sherry Lansing's appointment to President of 20th Century Fox in 1980, becoming the first woman to head a studio? Was it Cathleen Black in 1979 becoming the first woman publisher of a weekly consumer magazine, New York? Or did the real power for women in the media come later with Geraldine Laybourne reinventing children's television on Nickelodeon or Judy McGrath sending MTV into 265.8 million households all over the world? Do women in the media, in fact, really have any power today? This paper will examine the power of women in the media through four different women, Sherry Lansing, chair and CEO of Paramount Pictures, Cathleen Black, President of Hearst Magazines, Geraldine Laybourne, Chairman and CEO of Oxygen Media, and Judy McGrath, President of MTV. Sherry Lansing received a Bachelor of Science degree from Northwestern University in 1966. After graduation, Lansing taught English and math at Los Angeles public high schools. She quit teaching to become a model for Max Factor and Alberto-Culiver and also held minor roles in a couple of movies. She is often quoted for calling herself ?a terrible actress.? Still interested in film, Lansing took a few classes at UCLA and the University of Southern California soon becoming an executive story editor for MGM. Only two years later became vice president at Columbia taking charge of such films as The China Syndrome and Kramer vs. Kramer (gmu.edu). Sherry Lansing made history when, in 1980, she became the first woman to be in charge of production at a major studio ? 20th Century Fox. Lansing brought to the movies something that had never been introduced before, the perspective of a woman. This in no way means that Lansing only backed ?chick flicks.? It means that she kept herself in touch with viewers. She put her personal taste aside and thought about what ?the people? wanted to see. Lansing has been quoted several times about her delight in attending the movies. In fact, she attends movies to get a genuine feel for what people really think are good movies. She listens carefully to the comments made during and after a movie. Her female perspective allows her to see things from more than one angle ? her own. One top filmmaker said, ?Sherry's the first executive who succeeded by being a woman, not trying to be a guy. She can be maternal, she can be sexy, she can use her femininity to be manipulative, but she's always, brilliantl y, a woman (guardianunlimited.com).? Today, Sherry Lansing sits on the board of directors of Teach for America and the American Film Institute. Governor Davis appointed her as Regent in March 1999 to a term expiring in 2010 and she currently serves as Vice Chairman of The Regents (upoc.edu). On top of all this, Sherry Lansing has headed hits such as Braveheart, Clueless, Runaway Bride, and The General's Daughter. If the question is whether Sherry Lansing has power in the media, the answer has to be yes. However, if the question is whether Sherry Lansing holds as much power as men in similar positions, I believe it takes more evaluation. Take for instance the comment made by a top filmmaker about Lansing. He takes all of the stereotypes about women and simply applies them to Lansing. Thus saying, Sherry Lansing is diversely stereotypical. Is this comment a compliment? Let's examine it. The first line of the comment appealed to me. It is true, in my opinion, that many women feel they have to act ?masculine? in order to succeed in the business world. However, this is a direct result of the environment and the fact that this man is oblivious as to why women act masculine in the business world made me skeptical of his comment. He confirmed my skepticism by adding that Lansing could be maternal, sexy, and manipulative ? all stereotypes about women. The fact that she had mastered each stereotype and knew when to apply each, to him, made her a brilliant woman. Another instance concerning Sherry Lansing is the headline run in the New York Times after the announcement of her promotion to the head of

The Factors Affecting Inflation

The Factors Affecting Inflation Free Online Research Papers By inflation one generally means rise in prices. To be more correct inflation is persistent rise in the general price level rather than a once-for-all rise in it, while deflation is persistent falling price. These days economies of all countries whether underdeveloped, developing as well developed suffers from inflation. Inflation or persistent rising prices are major problem today in world. Because of many reasons, first, the rate of inflation these years are much high than experienced earlier periods. Second, Inflation in these years coexists with high rate of unemployment, which is a new phenomenon and made it difficult to control inflation. Depending upon the reason of inflation, it can be divided in many types as (1.) Demand-Pull inflation, (2.) Cost-Push inflation, (3) Structural inflation. Inflation is very unpopular happening in an economy. Opinion survey conducted in India, USA and many other countries reveal that inflation is the most important concern of the people as it badly affects their standard of living. So why it is called Inflation is enemy number one. As India is also facing same problem so under my studies I want to find out the causes of inflation and the measure which the RBI using to curb it as rising CRR, repo rate, reverse repo rate etc will do as planned by RBI or need to use some other tools. And to compare it with context of other economies problem. The data for analysis will be collected from different surveys done by RBI and economic surveys and other surveys and also from the survey reports of other countries to compare it globally. Then I analyze the data collected for India and global context. Then finding and discussion limitation and scope for further researches. INTRODUCTION By inflation mean a process of rising prices. A situation is described as inflationary when either the prices or the supply of money are rising, but in practice both will rise together. In the Keynesian sense True inflation begins when the elasticity of supply of output in response to increase in money supply has fallen to zero or when output is unresponsive to changes in money supply. If there is full employment then condition will of clearly inflationary, if there is increase in the Money Supply. Inflation can take many form as: Deflation: is the opposite of inflation when fall in prices occurs. Reflation: is moderate degree of controlled inflation. Disinflation: is process of brining down prices moderately from their high level. Stagflation: is state where there is stagnation as well as inflation both side by side as prevailed in India in 1974-75 and 1979-80. Depending upon the reason of inflation, it can be divided in many types as (1.) Demand-Pull inflation: This represents a situation where there is increase in Aggregate Demand for resources either from the government or the entrepreneurs or the households. Result of this is that the pressure of Demand can’t be met by the Currently available Aggregate Supply which result in Aggregate Demand > Aggregate Supply which is bound to generate inflationary pressure in the economy. (2.) Cost-Push inflation: This represent the condition where even though there is no increase in Aggregate Demand, prices may still rise. This may happen if the costs of especially wage cost rise. (3.) Structural inflation: This type of inflation occurs because of change in structure of economies as happened in India from Agricultural Structure i.e. Green Revolution to Industrialization. Thus because of change in Economic Structure gives rise to increase in prices thus generate inflationary pressure. Inflation is very unpopular happening in an economy. Opinion survey conducted in India, USA and many other countries reveal that inflation is the most important concern of the people as it badly affects their standard of living. So why it is called Inflation is enemy number one. India is facing the problem of inflationary pressure because of the increase in Aggregate Demand while Aggregate Supply is respectively constant. The inflationary pressure faced by Indian Economy is due to Demand-Pull inflation i.e. Aggregate Demand > Aggregate Supply. Thus to curb inflation need to fill the gap between Aggregate Demand and Aggregate Supply. For this either need to increase AS or decrease AD that can hamper economic development. Thus to increase AS is the best tool which can be used. To increase AS either need to increase production capacity of all current production unit of to built new production plants. But as quoted in an survey done by RBI that all the production plants are running at their full production capacity thus all resources all-full employed the other way is to built new plant but to do this will take at least 18months to 2years. Thus meanwhile need to decrease Money Supply, which is opted by RBI. As in short run it’s not possible to meet the gap between AD and AS thus RBI is planning to decrease liquidity by reducing Money Supply from the market. For this it has been planned that by decreasing CRR, repo rate and reverse repo rate Liquidity from the market will be drained. CRR i.e. Cash Reserve Ratio is the percentage of deposit that a commercial bank need to keep with RBI by which RBI control liquidity in the market and create Money Supply. Currently CRR is 6.5% in the Indian Context. Repo Rate: is the rate at which RBI lends money to other commercial Banks. RBI planned that Liquidity from the market can be drained by decreasing money supply and to do so it is increasing CRR, repo rate, reverse repo rate and taking other measure like that. But interest is that whether hike to crr and other factors will curb inflation and what are the other factors, which are influencing inflation. My purpose of study is that every country faces the problem of inflation whether developed, underdeveloped or developing. Here I want to concentrate whether the Indian Government and RBI taking the measures to curb inflation are correct or not? Will it actually bring down the prices? Because this is not only of our government or of a particular country but globally faced and the principles on which economy works are same for all the economies. By this research, it will be beneficial not only for Indian context but for all countries as on this my whole emphasis is on the causes of inflation and measures to control it and whether the measure taken by RBI are effective or not? What are the factors, which are affecting inflation? ? Whether rise to inflation is due to increase in Money Supply or due to gap between AD and AS? ? Whether tool used to drain liquidity from the market will curb inflation through decreasing money supply? ? Does the situation which is faced by the Indian Economy is comparable to World Economy? RESEARCH MODEL INFLATION is a function of Aggregate Demand, Aggregate Supply, and Money Supply i.e. I = f (AD, AS, MS) Where AD = Aggregate Demand, AS = Aggregate Supply, MS = Money Supply. HYPOTHESIS HYPOTHESIS 1 Null Hypothesis: whether prices are rising due to increase in money supply or due to increase in Aggregate Demand. Alternative Hypothesis: Prices are rising due to increase in AS not due to increase in Money Supply. HYPOTHESIS 2 Null Hypothesis: whether hike to CRR will help to curb inflation via decreasing money supply? Alternative Hypothesis: hike to CRR will not curb inflation though may drain liquidity from the market. HYPOTHESIS 3 Null Hypothesis: whether hike to Repo rates; reverse repo rate will help to curb inflation via decreasing money supply? Alternative Hypothesis: hike to Repo rate, reverse repo rate will not curb inflation though may drain liquidity from the market. HYPOTHESIS 4 Null Hypothesis: whether the problem of inflation faced by a developing country India is same as those of other country and developed countries and under developed countries. Alternative Hypothesis: The problem of inflation differ from countries to other countries whether it for two developing country. RESEARCH DESIGN Sample and Data Description: The sample would be the data with respect to Indian Economy ? The data of CRR and inflation of last 50years of Indian economy. ? The data of Repo rate, reverse repo rate and inflation of last 50years of Indian Economy. ? The Aggregate Demand and Aggregate Supply Data of last 50 years and respective inflation data. ? The Money Supply Data of last 50 years and respective inflation data. The same data will be collected in context of ? Other Developing companies like China, Pakistan etc. ? Developed Counties like USA, UK etc. ? Underdeveloped Counties like Bangladesh etc. Data collection Technique The whole project report is based on secondary data and data will be collected from ? RBI websites ? Economic Surveys ? Finance Journals ? Official Gazettes. ? Newspapers. ? Same respective data will also be collected for other countries from their respective source. Data Analysis Technique The following statistical techniques can be used while analyzing data for different perspective: ? Percentage relationship ? Ki-Square ? Correlation. LIMITATION OF STUDIES ? Time Constraint: Because of Shortage of time research work can’t be completed properly though I had worked hard to select the area, which is of my interest, and need research on that as no research had been done on that context. But due to lag of time I would not be able to cover all aspects but will try my level best. ? Resources Constraint: Because of unavailability of proper resources not possible to collect all data required for complete study of the effect of different factors on inflation. ? Data Reliability: As topic of project is such that it can only be completed on secondary data. As secondary data will be used so reliability of data is tough but it is too tough to get the primary data almost impossible at that level. ? Knowledge Constraint: AS because of one major constraint that is knowledge many topics remained untouched. There remain many more topics which had not been covered under this topic though relate to it is because of so many other constraining. SCOPE FOR FURTHER STUDIES As because of some constraint some topic remained untouched and working of economy always changes depending upon conditions prevailing in own country and also relative to world economy so there are always have scope for further research. Also a research had some limitation may be because of time, Resources, knowledge etc which gives rise to scope for further findings. Here under my studies I had not covered many other factors of price rise expect mismatch in AD and AS and rise in Money Supply, which gives rooms for further researches. Also I will compare it only with the result of other countries in context of India but same fluctuation can be correlated with the working of world economy or other countries. Thus t also gives rise to further researches. BIBLIOGRAPHY Books Journals: ? Modern Economic Theory by K. K. DEWETT. ? Macro Economics By H. L. Ahuja. ? Principles of Economics By Marshall A. Research paper- movie JFK 1991 - Essay Example The film is an indication of what happened in Dallas and why there is still much insistent misperception in adjacent the whole incident. The film was principally reliable in its key influences which to some extent are factual. Some of the characters in the film are fictional comprising Willie O’Keefe while other is real titles of people such as General Edward, a designation constructed upon a tangible person. The film through its characters that are non-existent and its atmosphere seems to convey this assassination in a good life changing way. The events in this film are simplified to streamline a narrative; the film unbolts with a biography medley awarding Kennedy as essential progressive leader who saddened the formation and consequently found himself on the highway to murder. The happenings in this picture are varied in with re-formed imaginary material and seguehooked on the movie itself without difference making an inconspicuous but definite claim for documentary accuracy level. Oliver was in dread that his identifiable district might have been convoluted in the whole presidential assassination process, finally he goes to Washington to encounter unknown and unnamed administration insider who played with shameless intelligence by Donald Sutherland. Movies and drama have been used by various artists to discuss various important issues that affect man and the society. It is through such visual imitation of real happenings that acts to inform the viewers and the general public of the happenings around them. It is with this in mind that the director of the movie "JFK" 1991 tries to make Americans and the whole world understand the circumstances under which president John F. Kennedy died on 22 November 1963. Through the dramatization of events surrounding his death through a movies’ point of it becomes easy to understand the reality of the assassination. Though critics of the movie have disagreed in the way and mannerism used to bring the whole iss ue of the assassination into being and if there was conspiracy among the Government officials to assassinate him. The movie has had a big impact in the lives and understanding of the assassination plan (Mark, 1996). Though the movie has deviated to some degree on circumstances under which the assassination was planed it still has managed to use the historical facts to portray its authenticity. In the plot of the movie the basic facts identified after investigation by warren commission revealed that the president’s assassination was carried out by Lee Harvey Oswald. In addition the movies twist and emphasis on conspiracy is brought in by facts that were isolated by the United States House Select Committee on Assassinations. In its facts in 1978 differed with the findings of warren commission and concluded that the assassination was a conspiracy. (Wicker,1963). It is within this frame work that the film is developed though some scenes have been made to appear too much fiction. This is based on the findings that further gave evidence that the evidence provided in the warren commission had been tempered with. United States House Select Committee on Assassinations also claimed that there was a another person who fired the gunshots apart from Oswald therefore authenticating the aspect of conspiracy that the movie explores. It is through proper characterization that the movie portrays its theme in a more realistic manner. The
